Building a Sniper Paintball Gun: Top 5 'Must Have' Accessories
Regardless of what marker you own, there are plenty of options on the market today that will allow you to transform your marker into a sniper paintball gun. We cover the top 5 accessories that we feel are most important and what others typically include on their list of top sniper accessories.
Paintball Barrel - A replacement barrel is probably the most crucial upgrade to a paintball gun in terms of performance gains. Replacing your stock barrel with a better unit will allow you to achieve further, more accurate shots. There are also brands on the market that reverse port the exhaust holes in the barrel. This allows the sound to be projected back towards the shooter instead of in front. This will create a smaller report (less projected sound). A paintball suppressor is also a favorite barrel add-on for milsim paintballers. Although most are simply for looks, a mock silencer will add the look and feel of a military part to an otherwise non-woodsball barrel.
Paintball Remote - Snipers are agile. They are able to move quickly and always seem to get the perfect set-up for stationary shots. Adding a paintball remote line to your marker will lighten the overall weight of the gun allowing you to react faster with it. Because the tank is not connected to the end of the gun, it allows you to get closer to the ground and into areas that would otherwise be impossible with a tank-mounted paintball gun. Remote lines are always a top seller at RTS, most being compatible with either CO2 or Compressed Air Tanks.
Paintball Stock - Snapping that perfect shot requires solid stabilization. A paintball stock anchors to the back of the marker allowing it to rest securely against your shoulder. Most stocks are 'marker specific'. You will have to purchase one that will fit your specific gun. Stocks are made from a variety of materials and come in various designs. These include air-thru as well as folding stocks. Pick the right paintball stock for your gun and one that will work in conjunction with your playing style.
Paintball Bipod - We know... again with the stabilization. But a solid platform is crucial to hitting your target. Most paintball bipods are light and will attach to any standard size tactical rail on your gun or barrel handguard. Others will clamp directly onto your barrel. They fold-up and lock into place when not in use. Most are adjustable in height providing the correct front stabilization for your gun.
Paintball Scope - Optics are key for aiding sight and locking your eye onto an object. Most paintball scopes are of the red dot type. This type of scope uses a red dot within the lens channel to indicate where the gun is aimed. The light does not project outside the scope. Although magnification scopes are available, most you'll find do not magnify your view. This is normally the case because paintball can be a very fast paced sport. Fast target acquisition is key to successful shooting. Red dot scopes offer the best performance on the paintball field. They come in a variety of sizes with numerous options. Options include sight adjustment dials, red dot intensity adjustment and various mounting configurations.
